Too late to resolve?
Well, it's halfway through the year (nearly), so it's about time I a) tidied up the study and b) came across my new years' resolutions. So, for what good they are:
1. Throw myself into teaching - the PGCE's almost over now, and I've found gainful employment at King Edward's School, Bath (www.kesbath.com). There was much soul-searching about joining the private sector, but in all honesty, the working environment's just a lot better. I went with my instincts on this one.
2. Live a healthy life - bad back's still the number one excuse for not exercising, also workload gets conveniently in the way. All in all, though, I'm not unhealthy. Yet.
3. Write more - perennial failure this one.
4. Make an effort with friends - I've been unbelievably bad at contacting people over the last few months. Expect that phone call any day soon.
5. Make an effort with family - this has been made somewhat easier by my engagement (lucyandrich.blogspot.com) which sees me in close contact with both my family and my future in-laws.
6. Save money - laudable.
Not a blasting success so far, but to be honest, my engagement has come to overrule all other considerations. As it's made me the happiest (not to mention luckiest) man alive, I can't really complain.
Other activities this year have included a valiant attempt to produce Macbeth at the QEH Theatre in Bristol in just 8 weeks flat (macbethbristol.blogspot.com). That counts as something creative I think.
Watch this, suddenly more active, space.
